Join us as we delve into the world of Dreimeta, where soul, creativity, and love define every space they create.
Dreimeta’s approach is highly adaptive, shaping each project based on the client’s values rather than following a fixed signature style. How do you maintain a balance between individuality and consistency across such a diverse portfolio of hospitality, retail, and public spaces?
DREIMETA GmbH & Co.KG: Our approach is rooted in adaptability, shaping each project around the client’s values rather than adhering to a fixed signature style. However, consistency emerges through our unwavering core values—natural materials, authenticity, attention to detail, and the joy of discovery- values which are ingrained in all of our work, whether in hospitality, retail, or public spaces.
Each space should speak for itself, offering an intuitive experience that feels organic rather than overly designed. We craft environments that feel naturally evolved, steering clear of rigid, artificial layouts. A successful space doesn’t feel pre-planned—it feels lived-in, effortlessly blending function and emotion. We reject sterile, overly structured designs in favor of layered, immersive environments.
By adhering to our core values, we achieve a balance between individuality and consistency across our diverse portfolio. Every project tells its own story, yet they all embody our key principles: soul, creativity & love.
The transformation of the Platzl Hotel suites is deeply rooted in history, drawing inspiration from the original Pfistermühle and Bavarian craftsmanship. How did you strike the right balance between honoring tradition and incorporating contemporary hospitality design elements?
DREIMETA GmbH & Co.KG: Maya Angelou once said, “If you don’t know where you’ve come from, you don’t know where you’re going.” Engaging with a building and uncovering its past is essential to our work. In every project, we strive to identify its soul, its essence, to develop truly authentic concepts. Balancing tradition with contemporary elements is our craft. With over 20 years of experience, we rely on intuition, expertise, and a deep understanding of our field.

Small, carefully considered details—such as the flour sack-inspired linen lampshades and chamois leather-covered coat hooks—bring a layer of storytelling to the suites. How do you incorporate such tactile and sensory elements to enhance the emotional connection between guests and the space?
DREIMETA GmbH & Co.KG: In all our projects, whether vibrant and colorful or subdued and serene, we love to play with intricate details and diverse textures. These carefully curated, often customized elements add depth and contribute to an authentic atmosphere.

Dreimeta’s portfolio spans industries without boundaries—from hotels and resorts to restaurants and retail spaces. How does designing across multiple disciplines influence your creative process, and are there any unexpected synergies that arise between different project types?
DREIMETA GmbH & Co.KG: Understanding the client is paramount—who they are, what values they represent, and how their ideas and products can be translated into a spatial concept. The underlying “mechanics” remain similar, whether designing a hotel, restaurant, or a retail space.
While each project requires a unique spatial and functional approach, working across diverse fields keeps our work dynamic and inspiring. It allows us to break free from repetitive patterns and approach every project with a fresh perspective.

The renovation of the Telegraphenamt reinterprets elements from the arts and crafts movement while integrating influences from Art Deco, Bauhaus, and Art Nouveau. How did you ensure that these diverse design languages remained cohesive and respectful to the historical essence of the building?
DREIMETA GmbH & Co.KG: Parts of the historic pneumatic tube system were restored and reinstalled, while the brickwork and ceilings were exposed to honor the building’s spirit and history. However, our goal was not to create a museum but rather to blend these elements in a dynamic way, crafting a unique and perhaps unexpected atmosphere.
Through careful consideration and a constant reassessment of our design choices, we strive to work with respect—preserving the essence of the structure while integrating fresh and innovative perspectives.
Art plays a crucial role in the overall concept of the Telegraphenamt: artists from Paris, Lisbon, Porto, London, and Japan bring diverse perspectives, merging history with contemporary influences to create a rich and layered experience within the hotel.

The “Root” restaurant transforms a former courtyard into a lush orangery, with a dramatic glass roof and layered seating arrangements. How did you approach designing a space that maintains intimacy and warmth despite its grand scale?
DREIMETA GmbH & Co.KG: A variety of seating areas spread across multiple levels are distinguished by different flooring and furnishings, yet they seamlessly integrate into the overall design scheme. Layered zones define the space, adding depth and warmth to the atmosphere.
Despite the room’s vast size and soaring ceilings, the design fosters a sense of intimacy by creating a network of inviting, distinct areas. Above the diners, custom-painted globe pendant lights evoke the illusion of a starry night sky beneath the glass canopy. These suspended luminaires introduce an intermediate level, visually breaking up the room’s height and enhancing the intimate ambiance.
Lighting, in general, plays a crucial role in shaping the atmosphere. Soft, dimmed illumination highlights key areas and corners, enveloping the space in a welcoming warmth.

Sustainability is becoming an essential part of contemporary design. How does Dreimeta incorporate sustainable principles into its projects, particularly in hospitality and high-traffic spaces where durability and aesthetics must coexist?
DREIMETA GmbH & Co.KG: Sustainability is a core value for us, and working with natural, locally sourced materials is an essential part of our approach. Fortunately, manufacturers and suppliers continue to innovate, introducing new materials that are recyclable or made from recycled content—while also meeting the necessary certifications and requirements for hotel operations. We are constantly exploring these advancements.
However, the greatest potential for sustainability begins with architecture and construction. Beyond using eco-friendly materials, well-designed building technology plays a crucial role—for example, by capturing and repurposing waste heat for use in other areas. Thoughtful planning at every stage ensures a more sustainable and efficient built environment. And of course, working with existing buildings and bringing them back to life is, in itself, a sustainable act—and it’s at the heart of what we do.

The redesign of the Bikini Island & Mountain Hotel Es Trenc embraces a full “flower-power” aesthetic while ensuring guest comfort and luxury. How did you balance the vibrant, playful elements of the 60s-inspired concept with the functional and practical requirements of a modern hospitality space?
DREIMETA GmbH & Co.KG: The free-spirited lifestyle of the hippie movement serves as the guiding theme for the Bikini Island & Mountain Hotels. Inspired by their peaceful protests (make love, not war) and their activism against nuclear armament, these ideals became the spiritual foundation of our design process. The flower children, with their creativity and artistic expression in all its forms, provided the inspiration for the design of Bikini Port de Sóller and its evolution in Es Trenc.
Both properties, located in Port de Sóller and Es Trenc, date back to the 1970s, and we sought to revive the original spirit of each space. A key expression of the hippie movement was the rejection of mass-produced goods in favor of handmade craftsmanship—symbolizing creativity, individuality, and a pure zest for life. The hippies also distanced themselves from consumerism and the establishment, values we have embraced in both properties through handcrafted details, unexpected artistic elements, and an abundance of local art and craftsmanship.
Local relevance and authenticity are at the core of our projects. However, it is equally important to meet international expectations and ensure functionality in every space. Architecture and design can preserve local identity by integrating regional materials and traditional construction methods that reflect both the cultural heritage of a place and the spirit of an era. At the same time, international standards must be maintained in service, quality, and technology.
The key lies in striking a delicate balance—curating authentic local experiences while ensuring global comforts. Successful hospitality concepts achieve this harmony, seamlessly blending cultural authenticity with modern amenities.

The outdoor spaces, including yoga terraces, sunbeds, and a repurposed pool area, are as carefully designed as the interiors. What role does landscape architecture play in enhancing the guest experience, and how did you ensure a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor environments?
DREIMETA GmbH & Co.KG: In warm climates, the seamless blending of indoor and outdoor spaces is an essential part of the lifestyle, making their integration a key focus of this project. When the weather is pleasant, guests naturally gravitate toward the outdoors. To enhance this experience, we extended the public areas outside, taking full advantage of the site’s existing terraced landscape to create intimate, private spaces at different levels.
Once the restructuring and revitalization were complete, our team carefully curated the outdoor furnishings. Stylish sunbeds, playful parasols, and inviting lounge chairs were thoughtfully placed to create distinct atmospheres across the terraces—ensuring that every guest can find their perfect spot.
The outdoor spaces feature a dynamic interplay of natural materials, lush greenery, and vibrant pops of color. The interconnected terraces harmoniously merge nature and design, forming a layered landscape that bridges the gap between the bright, playful hotel facades and the rugged cliffs overlooking the deep blue ocean horizon.
