As a practicing architect at HTA Design LLP, Adams specializes in housing, bringing thoughtful, people-focused solutions to urban living challenges. Alongside his design practice, he contributes to architectural education, teaching BA Architecture at Central St Martins, UAL, and Professional Practice at the Architectural Association. His dual role as educator and practitioner ensures his understanding of architecture remains both forward-thinking and rooted in practical expertise.

Adams is also an accomplished journalist, with his work featured in prominent publications, including The Guardian, The Financial Times, and Wallpaper. He writes extensively on design-related topics, covering everything from innovative home projects and exhibitions to cars and workplace interiors.

Shawn Adams is a leading advocate for diversity and inclusion within the architecture industry. As a Trustee of the Museum of Architecture and a member of the Advisory Board for Open City’s Accelerate Programme, he actively works to create opportunities for underrepresented groups to thrive in the architectural profession. Recognized as a RIBAJ Rising Star, Adams continues to champion new voices and ideas in architecture.

In line with his passion for fostering social change, Adams is the co-founder of POoR Collective—an organization dedicated to empowering communities through the development of young people. Short for Power Out of Restriction, POoR Collective uses architecture and design as tools to catalyze positive change, with a strong focus on equity and social impact.
